Happy Early Spring to everyone in the metro area! We have had such an amazing late winter and early spring, easily the nicest I can remember in Minneapolis. I hope you have had a chance to get outside and enjoy it. This lovely warm weather means I am opening the studio; The Cottage, earlier than planned! I’m now booking for Spring sessions, newborn portraits, high school senior photos for class of 2010 who missed them and even early senior portraits for Class of 2011. I am accepting applications now for my 2011 Senior Rep program (you can click here for more info!) and senior reps at areas high schools will have special discount cards for Class of 2011 seniors!
Also, if you’d like to attend a great fundraiser Silent Auction on 4/17/10, to help send kids to Space Camp, more info is here, and at the auction, you can buy a gift certificate for Mary Hanson Photography!
Here is one photo from Easter Sunday of my youngest, who is already seven 1/2 years old! Time flies, make sure you have lots of photos to capture your little ones as they grow!
Just wanted to quick share a couple photos from two of my “Valentine” contest winners. They were adorable kids~one winner already has their gallery up, and the other will be up shortly. All my sessions/galleries from the past week will be delayed a little, as I’ll be out of town, on a class trip with my oldest son until late Friday, so will not have access to email, phone or anything. I’ll return emails after I get back.
Also, my studio, The Cottage, will be reopening next month for Spring and I’m now booking weekday sessions. Weekends are already all booked for April and a few are gone for May, so contact me asap to schedule your session. I’m also accepting applications for 2011 Senior Reps. Interested metro area high school juniors can email Mary for info.

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone! I’ve had a wonderful morning already, coffee, newspaper, hugs from my Valentine and my three kids, including my now 10 year old birthday girl, Lauren~ reading a new book she got last night for her birthday.
She looks so grown up to me! She got her ears pierced six weeks ago and finally got to put in new earrings yesterday (so of course, she had to wear her hair up to show them off!) Happy Birthday Sweetie!
And we had three entries for our Valentine’s contest~ Here they are!

In honor of Valentine’s Day next week, and in honor of my own little Valentine turning 10 on that same day; I’m now accepting entries for a fun contest to win a free photo session for one lucky little girl or boy in the Minneapolis metro area.
Enter your child (ages 0-10) to win a free photo session and one free 8×10 print (over $400 value!) for the Mary Hanson Photography Valentine Cutie Contest! The winner will be announced right here on my blog-site on the morning of Valentine’s Day.
Here is how to enter; please read all the steps carefully!
1. Subscribe to my blog updates by entering your email in the subscribe box above (just below the rotating photo banner) You will get an email from feedburner to confirm your subscription, please follow directions in that email. This will allow you to get an email when new posts/sneak peeks/contests are posted, and an email when the contest winner is announced on Valentine’s Day!
2. Take a photo snapshot of your child wearing something red, could be all red or just a little red, but the photo must have them wearing something red, and your child must have a sign saying in the photo saying “Pick me Mary Hanson Photography!” so I know you are not using an old photo.Then email me this photo or upload this photo of your Valentine Cutie to Flickr or some other publicly viewable website, and post the photo link by leaving a comment after this post.
3. Make sure you put your email address in the comment so I can contact the winner!
Contest begins when I push “post” (ie, on Feb 8, 2010 around 11:30 am) and ends at 11:59 pm on Saturday February 13th. Only one entry per person and this prize cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash, and is only valid for the posted winner. The winner must use the prize by March 14th, 2010 or it will expire. Children aged 0-10 yrs old who reside anywhere in the Twin Cities metro area can be entered by their parent or legal guardian.
I will make a collage of various creative entries to show some of the Valentine cuties (from the links to uploaded photos) but only one child will win the MHP Valentine Cutie contest, so enter quickly!
Ramona Ramdeen -Hey girl, I want to enter my Ruby as it is her birthday this week also. We are ineligible to win as we do not live in Mpls, and will not be there until the end of march, so we cannot redeem the prize, but I think she will be a cute addition to your collage and when we do come in town, I do want to hire you to take some pics of us. I hope you don’t mind me sending you some pics anyway.

I haven’t had much time to post, but thought I’d get an update here, along with some recent news and photos. So, what have I been up to recently? I’ve just put up a gorgeous huge canvas display at Amma Maternity’s fresh new location in Edina. I’ve been doing some fun ongoing work for an orthodontist office in Richfield. Some headshots for some professionals, some newborns, more work for Margaret Anderson Kelliher for her gubernatorial bid, and some new headshots for the beautiful Darya for a movie audition. Hope everyone is enjoying the winter and Go Vikings!
